PIENZA, ITALY
A440 is a project born within a hospitality center for musicians and composers in Pienza, aiming to explore the synergy between colour, form, and music.

The creative process was innovative and rich in research—a dialogue between different expressive languages, in which sound vibrations found a visual counterpart in tones and geometries.

It is an experience where musical harmony translated into colour, giving rise to a sensory journey that unites visual arts and sound in a single expressive wave.

STUDIO DI CAPRANICA, 2024

The project was born from the encounter between Marina de Lagarda’s chromatic expertise and Alessandro Twombly’s painting, set in the artist’s studio in Capranica. The four-handed collaborative work developed through a spontaneous process, where Marina prepared the canvases with washes of colour in the tones chosen by Twombly. The emerging shapes on the surface became a source of inspiration for the artist, who intervened freely with his painting. A creative and stimulating dialogue, where each followed their own path without prefiguring the final outcome, bound by an intuitive understanding.

FEMALE MAXIMUM SECURITY SECTION, MAY 2023

In May 2023, Marina de Lagarda brought her work on colour into the female maximum security section of Taranto Prison. Through a series of workshops, she guided the inmates in exploring shades, their interactions, and the sensations they can evoke when juxtaposed.

The creative process was remarkable: the participants showed enthusiasm, curiosity, and engagement, experimenting with colour and finding in it a moment of freedom and personal expression.

At the heart of this project is a simple yet profound intent: to bring relief to an extremely challenging environment by offering, through colour, an opportunity for lightness, beauty, and reconnection with oneself.

PIO XII PAVILION, SEPTEMBER 2019

In September 2019, Marina de Lagarda transformed the waiting room and corridors of the cardiothoracic surgery department at the Pio XII Pavilion of Bambino Gesù Hospital. The project was conceived with the intention of caring for a space laden with tension and pain through colour, offering waiting parents a more welcoming and humane environment.

Transforming a bare and anonymous room into a place of attention and respect was an intense yet deeply gratifying process. Every chromatic choice was designed to infuse warmth and relief, transforming the environment into an “ecology of care” capable of conveying comfort.

PALAZZO BALEANI, 2010

In 2010, Marina de Lagarda executed a chromatic intervention for the Baleani Research Center, aiming to provide a more welcoming and reassuring environment for women undergoing chemotherapy.

The project took shape through the creation of panels with gradient tones, designed to evoke the horizon and add depth to the space. This visual effect allows the gaze to wander and travel, offering a moment of respite and distraction during therapy.

The project was born from the need to create a bouquet of colours dedicated to Italy, as an alternative to the foreign palettes often used by Italian architects. The goal was to develop a chromatic selection that resonated authentically with the landscape and the culture of the territory.

A journey of research and experimentation that, over time, found fruition thanks to a collaboration with an innovative company capable of translating this vision into a range of colours in tune with nature and its nuances.

A project of identity and chromatic sensitivity, conceived to enhance the bond between hues and the landscape, providing Italy with a tailor-made palette for its unique beauty.

SUPPORT HOUSE OF THE DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY OF SAN VINCENZO DE’ PAOLI – BAMBINO GESÙ HOSPITAL, 2019

In 2019, Marina de Lagarda carried out a chromatic and decorative intervention for the support house for Long-Term Care Families at Bambino Gesù Hospital, managed by the Daughters of Charity of San Vincenzo de’ Paoli. The goal was to create a welcoming and stimulating nursery for the children hosted at the facility.

The creative process led to the creation of a painted garden, populated with butterflies and child-friendly wings. An environment designed to immerse the little ones in a world of colour and nature, where they can explore, dream, and be carried away by their imagination.

At the heart of the project is the desire to offer children a space of wonder and discovery, where the painted flowers and insects transform the nursery into a serene and playful refuge, capable of providing a moment of lightness even in the most challenging situations.
